1999 Ford Mustang engine swap?
Have a 1999 3.8 mustang (crap engine)…wanted to know if it would be difficult to drop a 4.6 in it and ballpark cost on new engine. What major / minor modifications would I have to do? Thanks!

I have worked on this cars for years, belong to all of the major mustang message boards and owned a 10 second turbocharged 99 GT documented in 04/02 MM&FF. I have seen this question probably 20+ times and the best answer is to sell it and by a 99+ GT. It will be much easier than swapping in an engine not meant for the car. It’s not as simple as it was in the past because you will need the complete harness, ECM, and probably tons of small parts that you would discover during the swap. The major parts are easy to list, but it’s the little things that usually hold up the entire swap.
Personally, I would either buy a GT or speak to someone that has actually performed the swap because you don’t need theories and guesses from people not spending their time and money. Sell the one you have and buy a GT in good shape is what you would hear on any reputable Mustang message board. There are plenty of used 99+ GTs out there so you will have many options and room to negotiate.
